At Monterey Bay Academy we believe establishing firm values and beliefs is essential especially during a young adult students’ high school years. Having a strong support system of friends is important for their spiritual and emotional well-being. As the Bible says, bad association spoils useful habits. By surrounding themselves with like-minded individuals, students are able to water and care for the seeds of their Christian values.
Here at Monterey Bay Academy, making friends is a breeze, as we offer various opportunities for our students to congregate with each other.
One way is through attending the Monterey Bay Academy Church, in which several services are offered for our students on a weekly basis.
On Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, students can participate in worship. Daily morning assembly and nightly dormitory worship are also offered and attended by everyone on campus.
The Monteray Bay Academy Church encourages our students to congregate by providing social settings and activities for them. Through the Campus Ministries program, students are able to participate in community service and local and international missionary work. We offer yearly retreats and mission trips, including our 2015 Mission trip to Brazil.
Monterey Bay Academy also offers various recreational activities.
It is through these activities that MBA teaches teamwork and sportsmanship, the upmost important qualities of MBA’s athletic program. When it comes to athletics, there is something for everyone. From football and soccer to softball and tennis, there are a variety of options for students to choose from. Sports like jogging, surfing, and skateboarding, while not having their own formal teams, are also of great interest to our students.
We also offer many academic activities, such as student government.
There is no shortage of students pursuing fine art electives and recreational activities. We have a select band, called Westwinds. Additionally a select choir, called Oceanaires. Both of which have both performed in various locations, including Alaska, Florida, and British Columbia.
And we can’t forget our cleverly titled drama club, Impressions, who have performed all throughout California and Hawai’i.
Our fine arts allow our students to develop and nourish their talents. It also allows them to connect with students who share their interests.
The last way MBA students are able to successfully get to know one another is through dorm life.
Living at Monterey Bay Academy gives our students the advantage of experiencing fill immersion in Christian living 24 hours a day. This also allows them to truly connect with their classmates. Which in turn helps them build lasting Christian friendships that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
