MBA Student’s Passion to Help Cancer Patients
EmilyWhen MBA sophomore Emily B. found out her 19-year-old cousin had a brain tumor, her first thought was, “How can I help?” That thought grew into how could she help people in general who suffer with the terrible disease of cancer.
Emily is on a fundraising campaign to raise $1,000 or more for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In honor of all who are in cancer treatment, like her cousin Logan, Emily will be cutting her hair and donating it to the Locks of Love AND shaving her head. Why shave her head you ask? Emily says, “Cancer patients most often don’t have a choice whether they lose all their hair and become bald. Why should I choose how much hair I want to keep?”
Emily is hoping to have this money raised by February 14, 2011. The hair-cutting ceremony will be held during chapel as the MBA family supports Emily with this cause.
If you would like to support this passionate MBA student with a donation, you can utilize our MBA online giving. Select ‘Payment’ and ‘Other.’ Then specify St. Jude Children’s Hospital in the line provided. This will be considered a donation even though it is on the payment menu. We don’t have an ‘Other’ category on the donation menu. All donations will be forwarded to St. Jude. Or – you may mail your donation to MBA clearly marked St. Jude Hospital.
Watch for the spring 2011 issue of our alumni magazine, Sandscripts, for the full story on Emily B. – how she came to be at MBA, how she found God, how her entire family has discovered God and the Seventh-day Adventist Church – all because of “coincidental” meetings with a variety of people.
