Donations over $10,000 can be tagged for specific tracking. A written statement of recommended usage of the proceeds available based on the investment and spending policy of the Endowment Fund can be included with a donation of this size or larger. The recommended usage must fit within the operating guidelines as noted below.

As of January 24, 2008, the Alumni Endowment Fund is $506,326.31. Thank you for your dedication to Adventist education!

Distributions
The endowment has been able to give out scholarships for several years as well as funds designated for faculty and staff development.


Operating Guidelines
The Endowment Board focuses on investing the money. Unless the provider of funds has provided recommendations on the use of the funds, annually the Alumni Board specifies how the funds will be spent. To date the focus has been on student scholarships.

The by-laws state that the corporation has been formed to engage in the following:
  1. Promoting and stimulating interest in Seventh-day Adventist Christian education at Monterey Bay Academy among all people who are committed to quality education.
  2. To receive by gift, devise, or bequest, or to otherwise acquire any money or property, real, personal, or mixed, to be placed in an endowment with the interest or gain therefrom to be used for the support of Seventh-day Adventist Christian education at Monterey Bay Academy.
  3. To receive by gift, devise, or bequest, or to otherwise acquire any money or property, real, personal, or mixed, pursuant to specific written directions by the donor and designed to benefit Seventh-day Adventist Christian education at Monterey Bay Academy.
  4. To do all acts and legal and ethical things necessary, convenient, and expedient, to carry out the above purpose and engage in the above activities.

Endowment Board
If you would like to serve on this board, and have investment experience, please contact the Alumni and Development Office. We are currently looking for members to serve on the board who will work towards the selection of a money manager and then review the investment reports from a money manager each quarter.
